Saturday, August 2 was the big day and this year was the biggest number yet of CMCSS students who have taken and passed an Advanced Placement exam. A total of 458 students passing 681 exams qualified to participate in Wyatt Johnson’s Pass & Go car giveaway on Saturday. This is the sixth year for the reward celebration and the numbers of students taking and passing the exam has grown significantly from last year with 376 students passing 524 exams. The previous year had 359 passing 504 exams. Schools director B.J. Worthington said he is excited and encouraged by the number of students taking such rigorous coursework and he commended Advanced Placement teachers for being effective at their craft. Premier Medical also has partnered with CMCSS and Wyatt Johnson in the Pass & Go event. They gave away a thumb drive for every student and held a drawing for 14 Surface tablets. William Beach Oil provided $25 gas cards. Domino’s Pizza served food for the students attending and gave away door prizes as well. WCHS senior Kimberly Rosenbaum won the car this year and chose a blue Hyundai Accent.
