Dawn Evans Spotlight

Dawn Evans, 2007 Northeast High School graduate, was poised to be a first round pick in the 2011 WNBA Draft until she was diagnosed with focal segmental glomerular sclerosis. FSGS is a kidney disease that disrupts the filtering system in her kidneys, causing high blood pressure and headaches while sometimes leaving her with low energy reserves. Despite receiving her diagnosis during her time at James Madison University, she scored a school-record 2,667 points in her 4 year career. She then went on to play professional basketball in Europe before returning to Clarksville for a kidney transplant.
